Dr. Melanie Golob (DPhil)
Doctor for physiotherapy
Melanie Golob is passionate about making evidence-based medicine easier to understand in order to become practical and useful in everyday clinical care. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between research and practice by translating complex evidence into meaningful action that supports better patient care.
She is currently a DPhil candidate in Evidence-Based Health Care at the University of Oxford, where her research explores how evidence synthesis can better support healthcare decision-making. Over the course of her career, she has contributed to clinical practice guidelines, evidence syntheses, and health technology assessments, giving her a unique perspective on how evidence moves from research into clinical practice. These experiences continue to shape her research interests in making evidence more responsive to the needs of clinicians and the patients they serve. Before transitioning into evidence-based healthcare, Melanie taught undergraduate science and received the Alan Alda Flame Challenge award for communicating complex scientific concepts in clear and engaging ways.
Melanie enjoys helping clinicians make sense of evidence and apply it with confidence within the reality of clinical practice. She believes evidence-based practice is at its best when it supports thoughtful clinical reasoning rather than replacing it. Her goal is to help clinicians feel more confident navigating uncertainty in order to enable evidence-informed care guided by experience and tailored to each individual patient.
